This month, I am reading a book called Atomic Habits written by James Clear and Mr. Clear said something interesting,
“Wether it is about losing weight, building a business or (in this case, being tidier), we put pressure on ourselves to make earth-shattering improvement that everyone will talk about.
Meanwhile, improving 1% isn’t particularly notable but it can be far more meaningful especially in the long run. Here is how that maths work out: if you can get 1% better each day for one year, you will end up 37% better by the time you are done”
Our lives are incredibly busy. We do not seem to find neither the time nor the motivation to spend hours on ourself, let alone cleaning. However, what can be done is to start with baby steps.
Doing this, will provide the following benefits:
Among many other lessons, it taught us the supreme importance of cleanliness. Now, it is more like a personal resposibility on our shoulders to help prevent the spread of germs. We must make cleanliness our new norm. Where do we start?
As someone said, be the change you want to see in the world. No, I do not mean that you should become a cleaning freak and start disinfecting every thing and anything you see. That is not sustainable, is it?
Instead, I want you to start small. Commit to cleaning 5 minutes a day. Start from your workplace, build the habit and gradually work your way upto a better, healthier and more productive living.
